Composer & arranger · film & screen · Malta

Hi, I'm David — a composer you can
actually talk to.

I write music for film and screen, and I arrange for live orchestra. I love the part of the job most people find awkward: the early call where a director isn't sure what they want yet. That's my favourite place to start.

Recent work

A few things I'm proud of

Dagger

An original score for a short film that reimagines Macbeth as a psychological thriller. The director wanted dread that creeps rather than shouts — so I kept it quiet and textural, letting the strings tighten slowly as Macbeth unravels. Directed by Francis Ghersci.

Mużika Mużika

Orchestral arrangements for Malta's national song festival with Festivals Malta — including “Indur Għalik” and “Diska Cool Għar-Radio”. Taking a song from a demo to a full orchestra on a live stage, and making it feel effortless, is one of my favourite kinds of work.

Lara & the Jukeboys · Xtruppaw

Arrangements that translate band energy to an orchestral setting — keeping the character of the original while giving it scale.

Echo

Produced “Home Again” and “Hear the Echo” with an emerging Maltese artist — helping shape the songs from the ground up.

How I like to work

Simple, honest, and easy on your schedule

01

We talk first

A relaxed call about the story, the feeling, and a few references. No commitment, no jargon.

02

A sketch to picture

I write a short cue against your footage early, so we're hearing the direction before anyone's locked in.

03

We shape it together

Notes are welcome and expected. I'd rather revise happily than guess.

04

Clean delivery

Proper stems, correct specs, on time. I build tools for film work by day — the technical side won't slow you down.

Have a listen

The music

Original cues, plus a few scoring studies — scenes I've re-scored for practice, to show range. (Studies aren't commissioned work; I just love doing them.)

If you love the restraint of Jóhann Jóhannsson, the cello world of Hildur Guðnadóttir, the warmth of Ólafur Arnalds, or the character of Nicholas Britell — we'll get on well. That's the tradition I write into.

Say hello

Tell me about your project.

Even a half-formed idea is a great place to start. Send the genre, rough length and timeline, and I'll get back to you — I answer everything myself.
